Cheese Maker

No previous cheese making experience necessary but some experience with fermentation and/or food production preferred. 

Main duties:

  • Producing Graceburn, from milk collection to packing you will take a leading role in the production of our award winning marinated soft cheese Graceburn

  • Assisting with the production of Edmund Tew & Cream Cheese 

  • Maturing Edmund Tew, daily washing and turning.

  • Cleaning, there will be a lot of cleaning. 

Required Skills and Qualities:

  • Attention to detail

  • Familiarity with HACCP systems 

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Forklift experience (this can be provided on the job)

  • A love of good food and where it comes from.

  • Ability to work both alone and as part of a small team.

  • Own transport is essential as you will need to be able to get our dairy in rural Kent.

Hours & Pay

  • 5 shifts per week including one shift on the weekend, early starts and/or late finishes

  • Pay will depend on experience starting at living wage 

 Cheese Production Assistant

Our ideal candidate will have a strong interest in food, an eye for detail, be highly adaptive, comfortable with spending a full shift on your feet and a commitment to producing, packing, and dispatching our cheese in the highest possible standard. This is an active, on your feet, role. We process up to 1000lts of milk per day and pack several hundred Kg’s at a time.

As a growing business there will be scope for this role to become more specialised in time.

Main duties:

Packing Graceburn.

Processing orders and maintaining traceability.

Washing and turning our raw milk washed rind cheese, Edmund Tew

Maintaining and recording quality assurance targets and paperwork.

Assisting our cheese makers with all other aspects of production and maturation

Cleaning

Selling cheese at weekend Farmers Markets

Doing deliveries in our Van

Required Skills and Qualities:

Attention to detail

Ability to stay motivated during repetitive tasks.

Excellent communication skills.

A love of good food and where it comes from.

Ability to work both alone and as part of a small team.

Driver’s License & own transport is essential as you will need to be able to get to our dairy in rural Kent.

Forklift License or experience also an advantage

Familiarity with HACCP systems also an advantage

Hours & Pay:

5 shifts per week including weekend shifts

Immediate start

Pay will depend on experience, starting at living wage increasing after a 1-month trial period.
